Originally political parties were seen as skeptical by our Founding Fathers and therefore opposed. However, today our government has political parties. Political parties attempt to gain control of the government and influence its decisions. The two most influential parties in the American Government are the Republican and Democratic Party. These two parties have very contrasting beliefs. Democrats believe in “the need for intervention by government in the form of more and bigger programs” and agree that there must be fairness in government regulations and freedom of expression. These questions have been debated by both the Republican and Democratic party over the years. For the Republican Party increasing corporate tax rates is a troublesome situation. With high taxes the companies investing in America don’t stand a chance to those other companies investing overseas. High taxes push companies to move abroad and make business elsewhere. This results in the loss of jobs and other financial investments. In reducing taxes Republicans believe that the economy will grow and prosper. In a Republicans stand point, those who have worked hard and succeed in investing shouldn’t be punished. Democrats, contrastively “believe the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations must pay their fair share of taxes.” Democrats are against those companies who walk out on America and don’t pay taxes, they believe that everyone should pay their fair share instead of hiding business abroad. There is power in having a strong national defense, a strong national defense threatens and intimidates other nations that might try to harm the country. It also keeps the country safe when there are threats. Both the Republican and Democratic party agree that defense spending is an important investment. However, the level of investment varies between the parties. For the Republican party the past cuts create high risks for those in uniform. The party argues that the world is much more dangerous place, and that’s is why American troops must be better equipped.
