# Physics : A Model Of Waves Essay

II. Topic: Waves

III. Standards:

State:

4-PS4-1. Develop a model of waves to describe patterns in terms of amplitude and wavelength and that waves can cause objects to move.

4-PS4-3. Generate and compare multiple solutions that use patterns to transfer information.

National:

4-PS4-1. Develop a model of waves to describe patterns in terms of amplitude and wavelength and that waves can cause objects to move.

4-PS4-3. Generate and compare multiple solutions that use patterns to transfer information.

IV. Measureable Objectives:

• Given a lesson on the terms amplitude, frequency, and wavelength, students will be able to identify these parts of a wave 2/3 times.

• Given a lesson on the terms amplitude, frequency, and wavelength, students will be able to define these terms with 90% accuracy.

• Give a lesson on amplitude, frequency, and wavelength, students will be able to identify how these terms relate to each other with 90% accuracy.

V. Materials):

• Science journal

• For each group of 4 students: o Piece of yarn approx. 2 yards o 2 different colored buttons o 2 different colored pipe cleaners o 1 piece of tape

• SMART Board/Compatible technology

VI. Character Education Principle: Determination

• Students will become “effective problem solvers and decision makers” (Character Counts, 2015).

• Using sound can help us identify problems and move through life situations

VII. Set:

• Review previous lessons concepts.
