There are many in the world who oppose prayer rights in schools. Many believe it would be a terrible burden on many schools. Teaching is not the purpose of any public school, and they are not trained or equipped to do it. The purpose of school is to learn everything outside of religion. Many would argue that there are places to go to pray like churches or at home. Prayer in schools can lead into violence among many of the students. Students are at risk of getting bullied or even forced into hating religion by other children. Among the many valid reasons, the separation of church and state stand the tallest. "Separation of church and state" is a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson and others expressing an understanding of the intent and function of the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. “Increasing levels of religious pluralism in the modern world raise tensions among religious groups and challenge the inherited state-church models of our nation” (Monsma, Soper). Despite all the negative remarks directed towards prayer in schools, prayer shows morality. Prayer can help guide students to make the right decisions, and better choices throughout the school year.
