Personal Narrative: The Three Modern Reforms Of America

As for the money, I will diligently delegate portions of it to three modern reforms that I feel are in need of it. The time that we’re living in is a great one, I’ve recently heard people calling it a progressive era, and that is a very fitting name. There are many people, muckrakers, politicians, activists who seek to better different aspects of our society. Perhaps this age may not last for very long, but I hope it does make a noticeable impact in the living situations of Americans. The reforms I am choosing from are forest preservation efforts, food regulation and safety, women’s suffrage, and the end …show more content…
I admit, at first glance trees seem to be less important than the lives of our children, yet these living things could have more history than a child could ever see to live. They are not less important than humans on the grandest scale of things, after all we did not evolve better than everythings else, only differently. Like John Muir said Atlantic Monthly, they have survived through disease, avalanches, droughts, strainings, and floods. This is evidence that they are very capable of survival, but when greedy humans seek to make a dollar they do not consider any of this, as long as they earn profit, the trees are inescapable prey. America is built on opportunity, and some of this comes from the abundance of resources we have here in North America, so if we want to make sure that our descendants have the same opportunities we must preserve the land. All of this without mentioning that by supporting women’s suffrage we could also be helping out the child labor cause; as women gain more power they will seek to help their children, inevitable leading to child labor

Unlike many teenagers I didn’t, have a transition period from childhood to teenage years to adulthood, like so many others here in America might have. My life went from a carefree child to being a mature and responsible adult within a matter of months, and here is how it all started. The fact or the matter is that I was born in a refugee camp in Nepal and life wasn’t easy with death and disease looming everywhere. I roamed the streets as carefree as young kid could. Life was normal as I went to school every day, my dad worked countless hours, and my mother stayed home like so many other women in the community.…

Your imagination and your initiative, and your indignation will determine whether we build a society where progress is the servant of our needs, or a society where old values and new visions are buried under unbridled growth. For in your time we have the opportunity to move not only toward the rich society and the powerful society, but upward to the Great Society. The Great Society rests on abundance and liberty for all. Body crouched, holding on to a miniature blanket are the memories that cannot be eased from my head. Low temperature is a constant reminder of my harsh times as a homeless child with not a thing to loose, only an empty stomach behind. Thinking that crossing over would be the most difficult challenge of the “American Dream”. My parents did not come prepared for the far more challenges to come.…

America’s Gift to My Generation would be education and schooling. Education and schooling is a gift because with children going through school only a few will become our next inventors and scientists. The education will help make our medical teams and technology better than it has ever been before. The schooling is based on how well students work in a classroom because I know I work better at a public school then being home schooled. But for one of my friends it’s the opposite.…

I come from a poor family. I never had brand-name shoes or video games, or even a Lisa Frank binder and stickers like my friends at school, but I always had plenty of food in the fridge at home. My family never went hungry in spite of the fact that we were raised by a single mother who made her living as a coffee shop waitress. I did not know, till I was a teenager, that my mom bought the majority of our groceries with food stamps. It never seemed odd to me that she went to the grocery store one time a month and stocked up on milk, sugar, lunchmeat, chicken legs, hamburger meat, and most importantly, coffee.…

“My responsibility to America” is to be a leader to my community, to my country, and to my world. I am very concerned with the happenings in my local world and in the outside world. To be a leader, I believe you need education, experience; common sense, and courage. In a democratic country, citizens are expected to participate actively in the regulation of the government. My expectations before participating in this activity was for it to not be as authentic as it was. I did not realize that there was a place downtown that had such real and good food and wondered why I haven’t heard of this place before. Also, I was surprised with the poverty I saw around the area. I have always grown up in areas that have a decent amount of money and have never been to a spanish speaking country or area before. This experience really opened my eyes to the fact that there are places out there that still have authenticity and still try to resist becoming “Americanized” in society.…

Not everyone can say they carry a map of where they live wherever they go. This is one of the few perks that come with residing in the Mitten State: I can whip out my hand anytime and point to exactly where I’m from. For the past eighteen years, I’ve built a life in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a conservative, affluent community where everything seems perfect. For eighteen years, I’ve covered imperfections, censored thoughts, and allowed my light to be dulled. I may not have lived anywhere else yet, but the real-world is out there waiting -- and I’m ready for it.…

My Vision For America I feel America would be a better place if more money was granted for the development of better technology for the greater good, in all, a more advanced technology would allow for cheaper and more healthier foods, homes and other services. Better technology will open up hardly what seems a finite choice of new opportunities for safety, prosperity and the general wellfare of the environment. New technology can bring on, not just physical changes, but also of that of the human consciousness, with new ideas and intriguing philosophy to give people a new outlook of the world for change of the better, for simularities to oppose differences, for peace to victor over war and ultimately for Americans to help make the world a better place, not just for us, our country and our children, but for all of us. I see fit for conditions of the environment to be properly taken care of so that clean air, ground and water can be accessed to all. These projects of terraformation would add prodigiously to the overall state of Americans, sparking more cheerfull and stressless lives.…
