Pediatrics is a division of medicine that deals with the development, care, and diseases of children. Pediatric nurses provide this medical care for children from the time they are first born until their teenage years. Children are not just small adults, especially when it comes to their growing bodies and health. Due to the matter that they are developing and evolving, they have different needs, even different anatomies, and their bodies and health issues are often much different than those of adults. Having healthy bodies and minds and proper healthcare is extremely important during childhood. By monitoring growth and development, taking care of illnesses and health issues early, pediatric nurses and doctors can help children grow up strong and healthy. It is important for a nurse to know what it is at stake before thinking about becoming a pediatric nurse. Pediatric nurses are to be cheerful and friendly, and have the ability to communicate effectively with both children and their parents. Pediatric nurses also have plenty of patience and are prepared for just about anything. Above all, pediatric nurses have a genuine love for children and a firm understanding of their common health issues.
