Gally and some of the other gladers don’t like him because ever since he showed up everything has changed. “There’s too many weird things going on, and it all started when this shuck-face Greenie showed up” (157). The gladers don’t trust thomas and want to throw in the box hole. Gally went through the changing and saw that thomas worked for Wicked. Gally thinks he is a spy and doesn’t think he can be trusted after only knowing him for less than a week. On the other hand, the rest of the gladers like Thomas and see him as a way to get out. “Half the Gladers think you’re God” (150). They see him as a hero because he survived the night in the maze. He showed them they can survive out there in the maze and beat the Grievers. The creators of the maze see Thomas and the rest of the gladers as an experiment so they can find a cure for the flare. “Everything you lived through was calculated and thought through. Without putting much thought into it, he runs into the maze to help them out, breaking the number one rule. As soon as he gets in there, the door closes right behind him. Thomas finds out that Alby was stung by the griever minho thought was dead. Minho panics and leaves Alby behind with thomas. Thomas is just a newbie and he didn't freak out and run away like the veteran did. “He couldn’t leave a friend to die” (120). He knew running away wasn't a good idea because he didn't want to leave Alby alone or get lost in the maze. Thomas was scared but instead of wasting time he quickly came up with a plan. He ripped vines from the wall and created a series of ropes with them. Thomas tied Alby to the wall pushing him up only a couple of feet at a time. As soon as he made himself up the wall, about thirty feet off the ground, A griever rounded the corner. “Part animal, part machine, The Griever rolled and clicked along the stone path” (126). The Griever spotted them and climbed the wall. He knew his only options left was to make a run for it to distract the
