Thomas 16 Greenie/Runner/Leader He is the protagonist of the story. He is a 16-year-old courageous boy whom he finds himself trapped in the Glade, fighting to find the escape. He has no memory of anything, this makes him a very curious character. This is crucial to the story line, for he continues to ask questions. He arrives to the Glade scared and confused. Unlike the other Gladers, he demonstrates a strong connection to the maze that lies outside the Glade. He is cruel, arrogant and hot-headed. He constantly threatens many of the Gladers and really shows his hatred towards Thomas. He says that everything began to wrong one Thomas showed up. He has gone through the changing and seen who Thomas really is. So Gally is determines to expose Thomas, even if that means he needs to take his life. He tries to kill Thomas towards the end of the book by throwing a dagger at him.
Teresa 16 Only girl Teresa is the first and only girl to arrive to the Glade. She held a note that said that she was the last one ever. This scared all the rest of the Gladers. She arrives earlier than expected. Only a day after Thomas. The girl looked dead at first, she spent a few days in a coma. Teresa is a bold person. She challenges the sexism of the other Gladers. She is also very confident in her actions. She is not afraid to stand up and make her point to the leaders. She can communicate with Thomas telepathically. Her purpose of being sent to the Glade is to serve as a trigger, she clears it up to the Gladers that they need to escape the maze as soon as possible, or they will all face
