Organic Foods Vs Organic Food

Everywhere around the world people are eating the foods they enjoy. Some choose to consume food with less nutritional value, while others maintain a healthier eating style. The organically grown food industry has progressed over the last couple of years, unfolding into food that is popular among many. Between 1997 and 2011, the sales of organic increased from 3.6 billion to 24.4 billion in the United States (Bravata). Organic food is all natural and great for the body. People today are still questioning if organic food is more beneficial to the body. “I think people believe these foods are better for them, but we really do not know that they are” (McManus). Scientists have conducted studies to prove Kathy wrong. Organically grown foods have a more beneficial effect on the human body.
As Kathy McManus said in her quote above, some people do not believe that organically grown foods are better for their health. Dena Bravata is an author who compared the nutritional value of organics and non-organics. She said,

USDA 's National Organic Program (NOP) is an organic food label that has to meet certain requirements to be considered organic. Some of these requirements include: raising crops without pesticides, feeding animals organic feed, and producing products without genetic engineering (Sarasohn and Weiss). Organic labels come in four levels. Labels that say “one hundred percent organic” means that these products are made entirely with organic ingredients. Labels that just say “organics” are made without about ninety five percent organic ingredients, and labels that stay "made with organic or contain organic ingredients” have at least seventy percent organic ingredients in them (“The Complete”). Organic food labels that say are made with organic ingredients should have at least seventy percent of these ingredients made without the use of pesticides or other harmful things to your body
