Part A 1. No, Newspaper articles do not affect my food choices at all at least not consciously but perhaps subconsciously. These articles do bring up some important issues but I feel that I do enough exercise to the amount of kilojoules I consume to stay in a healthy weight range. 2. I feel that I do eat too many meals from takeaway outlets. I usually eat between 2-3 meals from takeaway outlets each week, mainly because of the convenience of them. As I need to fit in school work and fit with my families’ schedule, the convenience is very compelling. 3. If the current trends continue by 2015 approximately 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and more than 700 million will be obese. The scale of the obesity problem has a number of serious consequences for individuals and government health systems, particularly how they would cope.
Difference between overweight and obesity.
Being overweight means you have an excess amount of body weight, compared to set standards. This excess weight may include muscle, bone, fat and/or body water. Being obese means you have an excess amount of just body fat. Men with more than 25 percent body fat and women with more than 30 percent body fat are considered obese.
What are the health risks associated with obesity?
There are many health risks involved with being overweight and obese, these include, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, kidney disease and some kinds of cancer. These can have major impacts on people’s lives and lead to other problems such as depression, mood swings and self-esteem issues.
How can diet be effective in the prevention of overweight and obesity?
Diet and exercise are the main factors in being healthy. Having a controlled diet is an essential part of becoming and remaining an appropriate weight. With a controlled diet you are able to calculate the amount of kilojoules you consume on a daily or weekly basis, with this
