According to statistics, more than one third (34.9% or 78.6 million) of U.S. adults are obese. Obesity does not mean overweight, in fact obesity is a serious medical condition that can be detrimental to your health, if left untreated. Most people underestimate obesity and its effects, they completely overlook it and fail to construe it as a disease. But obesity is real, it’s very real and it is as rampant as ever, plaguing even children. So whose responsibility is it? Who is responsible for the surging rates of obesity in America? I believe that the citizens are responsible for the increasing obesity rates in America. Yes the government does contribute to it, but only because we live in a capitalist society. Since our society is based on “supply and demand,” the more people demand “junk food” the government has no choice but to provide.
It is the responsibility of the people to take care of themselves, to take care of their health and their bodies. Failure to do so, only destroys your health. I think it’s time people stepped up and started taking of themselves, because at the end of the day, you’re the one who is being affected by all of this, your health is going to be in shambles, and you alone are going to have to face the ramifications. Everyone has a choice, we can either sit there and blame the government and the people around us for the state our health is in, and watch our lives deteriorate before us, or we can do something about it, we have the power and the…
