Oil is a very important part in our live. But some people don't even acknowledge this. People want more and more oil. Canadians uses twice as much oil then ever. In 1980 people use nearly 1.8 million gallons but now they use nearly 3 million gallons. This is big. Canadians can be affected by this. People are demanding more oil some people are making pipe line this is a huge problem. This can spring a leak and the oil will go into your drinking water and can give you cancer. This is why I am on the side to not have the northern gateway pipeline build. This pipeline can create major disasters. One wrong move and then we would have big disaster. The pipeline will run through kitimat then burns lake then fox creek and finally bruderheim. They want to go through ten islands but they do not show this in their video. In the video there is a blank space in the area, but there is actually ten islands that are in there to way. This is big because then they have to navigate through the island with is very hard. The oil tanks have to navigate through narrow waterways that are likely to crash into the oil …show more content…
If this pipeline is created it could damage the spirit bears habitat. Also if one of the oil tankers spill then the ocean will be ruined the fish will get oil stuck in there gills and they will suffocate and die. And even if the fish don't die the predators will also die. If the bears eat the fish then it will get ill and then the spirit bear will die. Also the other predators that live in the ocean will also get ill. And more importantly we can get sick. If the fish try to swim for new water and then we catch the fish and eat it then we also may get ill and die. Also the northern gateway pipeline line have a bad reputation. Company had an oil spill that led to 132,715 barrels of oil to spill into the ocean. So they shouldn't build this pipeline because there might be a spill once

Even though there are many reasons to support why Keystone XL pipeline will be a very good idea, there are also many reasons that support that the oppositions gave the reasons why this Keystone XL Pipeline will be a problem to society. A lot of people opposite this idea of building the Keystone XL pipeline, because they consider this pipeline will not create as many jobs as it is promised. “Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Henry Waxman (D-CA) went as far as to argue that pipeline jobs are not "real jobs" - a stance that several labor unions representing millions of American workers might be surprised to hear. After all, organized labor has lined up in support of this pipeline because of the jobs it would provide for union workers” (Energy).…

The Department of State and other Federal and State agencies have conducted extensive analysis of the technical and environmental impacts of the pipeline and have found it to be the most efficient and environmentally effective means of oil transport between Canada and the United States. The Department of State found that incremental life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions associated with the pipeline are estimated in the range of 0.07 to 0.83 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, with the upper end of this range representing twelve one-thousandths of one percent of the 6,702 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emitted in the United States in 2011. In comparison with railway transport scenarios, an increased volume of train transport would result in greenhouse gas emissions from both diesel fuel combustion and electricity generation to support rail terminal operations, which would total to a range of 28-42% greater than the greenhouse gas emissions…

In short, it is very probable that the Keystone XL pipeline system will begin its operations in the near future as it is already half-way there to get fully permitted, and there are enough grounds to argue why the overall benefits to the America’s future are more important than certain environmental concerns brought by the people who object this project. Environmental problems have been there since the industrial revolution resulted rapid advancement and developments all over the world. One may argue that there have been countless negative consequences we experienced due to those sudden changes, but with the help of our newly-found advanced knowledge and ever-developing science and technology, the humanity has been relatively successful…

Many monstrosities who call themselves corporations want to take the resources of the planet and run them dry, because, of course, nothing is more important than money! TransCanada Corporation is one of many monsters I mentioned who is helping suck our planet dry and making the beautiful North American landscape vulnerable to disaster. TransCanada Corporation controls the Keystone Pipeline, which endangers ecosystems from the Alberta province of Canada to Houston. Covering 2,151 miles, the pipeline threatens all ecosystems it runs through. TransCanada tried adding a fourth phase of the Keystone Pipeline, but that was blocked by former President Obama.…

This opened doors to the insecurities of the Canada- U.S. relationship as well as questioned the rhetoric of the energy policy of the United States (Kalen 5). Many people were torn as to whether the risk of the pipeline would outweigh its potential benefits. There were concerns of the environment as well as the effect on gas prices (Terry 61-62). The advocates of this pipeline suggested it would secure borders as well as benefit the economy immensely (Slade 28). Although the pipeline would represent just a small portion of the 2.6 million miles of oil pipelines that currently exist, many have aggressively debated this topic for an extensive amount of time (“Keystone” 1).…

There are many different ways to refine the crude oil to get to the end product. Crude oil is basically fossil fuel that has been formed from dead animals and plants from millions of years ago. Engineers go through a process of locating where oil may be by using sonar. When they believe they have found an area that has this fossil fuel, they begin by drilling a hole and then pump the crude oil out to either a barge or into a pipe that goes directly to land. Once the crude oil makes it to the refinery, they begin to break down the oil through different chemical reactions.…

The world we live in is changing daily. Fossil fuel consumption has to be reduced, before our planet can begin to repair the damage man has caused. “It is estimated the world uses 87.8 million barrels of crude oil a day” (Friedman 195). “In 2000 it was estimated that the US consumed nearly 20 million barrels of oil a day, which is about 5% more than similar nations” (195). Oil consumption demand is going to increase as long as the supply can meet the demand.…

If we only pump oil that we need we, would not have as much oil left over that would get spilled into the ocean and rivers. Oil pumps “less than 15 barrels of oil per day”, (aoghs.org) but in all it adds up to be a big number over time. “As many as 25,900 marine mammals may been harmed by oil spills”, (biologicaldiversity.org) this number gets a whole lot bigger when multiple oil spills happen. Many animals die from ingesting the oil. One of the Dawn commercials shows how they pick up a duck and wash the oil off of it with dawn but sadly most of the animals will not get pick up and cleaned, they will probably die.…
