Nikolas Cruz is a nineteen-year-old, white male, that is currently awaiting trial on charges of seventeen counts of premeditated murder. Before being taken into custody, he was unemployed and was attending classes to receive his GED. Cruz was raised by his late adoptive parents, Linda Cruz, and Roger Cruz. At age three, Cruz was diagnosed as being developmentally delayed, and it was also found that Cruz had many other mental disorders including: ADHD, depression, autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, along with temperamental anger issues. When Cruz was five-years-old, he witnessed his adoptive father’s death. He then opened fire on students and teachers, murdering seventeen people and leaving an additional seventeen people injured. Cruz was armed with an AR-15-style rifle and had multiple ammunition magazines when he surrendered to officers in a nearby residential area, police said. Based on the events in Cruz’s life, it can be proved that the psychological disorders and trauma he experienced at a young age had something to do with his violent attack that day.

Until the age of fifteen, Nikolas Cruz attended Westglade Middle School where his previous teachers say a lot of the issues arose. He averaged twenty-six disciplinary acts a year while attending Westglade. These acts included: vocal outbursts, frightening written statements, and disturbing drawings on his homework. He once wrote on his homework that he would like to kill Barack Obama. It got to the point where teachers were so concerned that he was going to hurt
