Nice, France is a beautiful city located on the southern coast of France near the Italian border. It is located very near the principality of Monaco, It would take approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes to drive, 1 and a half hours to take a plane, and 4 hours to take a train from Paris to the coastal city of Nice. Its coordinates are 43.7 degrees North and 7.3 degrees East.

Nice is known for having a very nice climate with mild winters around 41 degrees fahrenheit and summers averaging around 81 degrees fahrenheit categorizing it as a hot-summer mediterranean climate. Geographically, Nice consists of two large bays and slowly rises up a hill and is surrounded by the western side of the Ligurian Alps mountain range. The close to 1 million people of Nice generally speak Niçard dialect of French but their is some italian influence. They also have a lot of seafood in Nice as they live along the coast.

The first known settlement dates back to 400,000 years ago and the Terra Amata archaeological site shows one of the earliest uses of fire and construction of houses around 230,000 years ago. It was once the busiest port of the Ligurian coast in around 350 B.C when the Greeks owned it.

Nice is divided into sections. ONe section is called Old town and it has more of the medieval architecture and archeological sites due to its rich history. One of their landmarks is the Cathedrale Orthodoxe Russe St-Nicolas a Nice which is a large church that looks like a castle and is a large tourist attraction. On the west side of Nice it is more mountainous while it is more developed the southeastern part of Nice. Nice is in the region of PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) one of the 27 regions in france.
