By giving us these rights, we currently have 27 amendments in Bill of Rights and each amendment give us some certain rights. In the Declaration of Independence, it states that, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government (..).” (Declaration). To sum up, the British government abused the people of the colonies by making the judges dependent on the king’s will alone, and created many offices where they sent their own people as officers to harass and eat people's’ food. Furthermore, the United States created amendments to protect their citizen’s rights from British government abuses.
