However, a hint of hope grew within her as she realized that she was still alive and breathing. Rubbing against the inanimate objects that kept her from the outside, she thinned her wrist, neglecting the blood rushing down her arms and onto her upper body. She felt herself sliding out from the chains and the sense of freedom was the only thought that filled her soulless body. Twisting her hands out of the prickly metal, her own self was free. Falling onto the ground, her legs were not strong enough to carry her weight, but a small door opened a pathway of light. Using the remaining strength from her arms, she crawled towards the door, but felt her body sinking while doing so.
"My escape."
The only two words she spoke. Her body was becoming engulfed in total darkness. Where the bottomless abyss once was. Her arms crawled faster ignoring the stinging pain of her muscles. The darkness had swallowed her legs and lower body. She was so close to freedom. A few more steps forward was all she hoped for. Her body tensed up as her hands sensed the metal frame of the door.
