CATCHY TITLE Imagine yourself swimming along in the ocean without a care. Your mom, dad, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles all are swimming along beside you. You can taste the salt water hitting your taste buds, and you can feel the warm summer sun penetrate through the water and hit your thick, strong skin. You swim miles and miles all day long with your family, catching fish and talking non stop, and you couldn’t be happier. Then, your whole world is turned upside down. It’s almost as if someone came and stole the sun from your universe. All that is left is darkness. You feel the tight, rigid nets pull and tug so hard on your body you feel like you can’t breathe as you get lifted from the water. The whales are then bred, and are living under awful circumstances. That is not what a whale is meant for, and it needs to be stopped. Whales are meant to swim freely in the ocean and do as they please. Not be held in a swimming pool for people to poke and prod at. When I was studying to become a marine biologist I learned that orcas(also known as killer whales), are very social animals, but in a different way than most people would think. Orcas live in pods(or families), and they stay in those pods their entire lives. In those pods, they all share one language. But, each pod uses a different language. It’s very similar to the different human languages. The pods are so content with who is in their family that they don’t want to or need to communicate with other pods of orcas. The people that captured the orcas did not take this into account. They would take the first small whale they could find. The workers would then put three or four of them in one giant pool together. Well the whales didn’t know how to communicate, so they would get scared and fight. According
