My Hero's Journey In The Odyssey

A hero’s journey is the steps of a process in which a hero is trying to accomplish a goal. However, the journey is about more than just completing their goal, they also find themselves and who they want to be. The hero encounters many obstacles throughout their journey that changes their view on the world and sometimes even their goal that they have worked so hard to strive for. In the book the Odyssey, the main character—Odysseus, went through his own hero’s journey. Along his journey home, he found himself fighting many different obstacles. He was deceived and tricked and taken into captivity multiple times. Even though this slowed Odysseus down, in the long run, it helped shape the way that he was at the end of the story. I am only 14 years old, and although I haven’t existed in this world for long, I have been through many different experiences that have helped shape who I am today. The different fall sports had been presented, and as far as I knew, I had no plans whatsoever of participating in any sports—well, except for soccer which was a winter sport. As everyone dispersed to the different sections in the pavilion where each coach of the fall sports stood, I found myself sitting with others whose decision was like mine—not to play a sport.
