Finally, it was my eighth birthday. The excitement rushing through my body was uncontainable. I was most excited for my eighth birthday because my parents said I could get a dog. I wanted a dog so bad. Ever since I was five I always dreamed of having one. When I woke up on my eighth birthday, I rush straight to my parents asking if we could go shopping for puppies. That 's all I looked forward to the whole day. My mom called a few shelters and we decided to go. One of the things I was looking forward to the most, was training my new puppy. I wanted to train it to be a smart and healthy dog. We visited five different shelters. I was looking for just the right one. At our fifth stop, there was this small and gorgeous Collie. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was the one. While my mom looked around, I couldn 't stop looking at the puppy. Its presence made me feel warm inside. My mom finally asked if I found a dog I wanted. I looked around, pointed, and said, "That one."

I named her Luna, and I wanted to train her to be obedient and smart, but things didn 't go as planned. I thought I could teach her to bark at the door when needed to go out and sit and stay when told to. Although it was possible to train her, but it was going to be a lot more work than I had thought. I would try and try every day to get Luna to learn, but it seemed like nothing was working. She would pee in the house, run around, and not sit still when told. Until one day, I introduced treats.
