Going off of this, Canto 29 was very interesting and probably one of my favorite cantos in Paradiso. Starting around line 88, there is a discussion of those who false teach or preachers who do not “feed” their sheep and how angry it makes those in Heaven: “But still, this is endured up here with less anger than when Holy Scripture is disregarded or when it is distorted” (p. 583). One example that is discussed Jerome saying that angels where made before the rest of creation, which Dante is stating is completely incorrect. This goes along with what Aquinas writes in Q. 46, A.3: “For four things are stated to be created together--viz. the empyrean heaven, corporeal matter, by which is meant the earth, time, and the angelic nature”. Dante is furious by those who falsely preach and even states: “They do not consider down there how much blood it costs to sow it in the world and how pleasing is one who approaches it humbly” (p. 583, lines 88-90).
