Problem Recognition: I had an old 2002 Chevrolet Suburban that had many problems and way over 100,000 miles. The amount of problems it had was too costly to fix so I became aware of the need to get a newer vehicle.

What motivates my purchases for certain goods depend on the price, the quality, the need or want for the product or service and how it is advertised. Advertising techniques are arranged toward making items that convey advantages that will fulfill the drives of target clients.

It is important for marketers to know what affects a consumers purchase behavior. Depending upon the product or service determines the high and low importance of my purchase motivation. For example, a good cell phone is an important purchase for me and my family, because we do not own a house phone. We need good phones in order to be able to communicate properly on a day to day basis, so this benefit motivates me to make this purchase.
Learning: Learning is the term used to describe the process by which people acquire new knowledge and preferences, which in turn provides the basis for enduring changes in behavior” (Finch, 2012, sec. 5.2).
