This monument has been up for about 80 years, so the owners of this monument have been doing a good job keeping the monument up and keeping it looking clean. People know the history about Christopher Columbus and all the horrible things he did to people. If i was to make a monument with a similar history connected to it, i wouldn’t have made it. People would eventually find out the history about the monument and would want me to take it down. Making a monument with a terrible history isn’t something i would intend on making. Mount Rushmore should be there as a monument because it is a part of our history. There was this monument that was called “The Maine Lobsterman” which was located in Maine. Maine was planning on making this monument for the 1939 New York World’s Fair. While they were making the monument, they ran out of money “But Maine ran out of money” (document F). Maine didn't have no other choice than to “just slap a coat of bronze paint” (document F) on it and send it to the fair. People were not amused by the monument. When the fair was over, the monument not taken care of and no one liked or want the thing. People would later on vandalize the monument because they were not pleased on how poorly the monument was made “No one seemed to want the man and his lobster. The statue was vandalized” (document F). Then, the monument was repaired and was stored and was stored away in a warehouse and would later on be eaten by rats. That information would make me want to give the public a much more better monument than “The Maine Lobsterman”. I would make sure I have enough money, time, and tools to make a quality
