Module 6 Leadership

In Module 6, Leadership and we discussed the different concepts that mold both followers and leaders. The concept that I found most important was Team Roles, specifically the CARE model. The different team roles that make up the CARE model are, Creator, Advancer, Refiner and Executor. There is team one role that is not in the CARE model however, it is equally as important to the team and that is Flexors. According to Noncommissioned Officer Academy Distance Learning Course (NCOA DLC), “The mission cannot be completed without people and those people play certain roles within the team to accomplish that mission.” Being able to identify what role each team member is strongest at will greatly increase the productivity of your team, and make for a more cohesive unit.
Creators are the team members who are more likely to offer new ideas and look beyond the norm or status quo when trying to solve a problem. Advancers are the individuals who see beyond the solution and look at how to develop the new idea(s) and promote them to the rest of the team. Refiners are detail-oriented, they take the new ideas that the creators and the advancers proposed to the team and attempt to polish it to ensure a successful implementation. Executors are the team members who tend to take control at the end to help push out the final product, without

My results showed that I am stronger at being a creator and a refiner than I am at being an advancer or an executor. Having this knowledge is imperative to ensuring team success. NCOA DLC tells us, “Never assume Creators are natural team leaders simply because they feel comfortable thinking up original ideas or that Executors make good team leaders because of their assertiveness.
