The trade I have chosen is welding, for a number of reasons I will explain later in the essay. I will also name three strengths and some weaknesses I have. In addition to what I feel is important in a job and the job of my dreams and why it is.

I chose the trade welding because the idea of something no single man can break let alone melted and permanently bonded is absolutely amazing. Welding was developed during the bronze and iron ages, and is still being perfected today. A blacksmith would have the heat the two pieces of metal and beat them until they would fuse together, this process is called forge welding. This is just breath taking to me, to come from having to beat two pieces of metal until they were bonded, to doing something as simple as flipping a switch, holding down a button and moving a gun along a joint. Welding has made such a big impact in everyday lives. And the demand for people that know how to weld will never decrease, in fact the demand will only grow.

Being able to take the lead when no one else can or will shows that you are motivated, and want to get things done. Without a leader the pack will crumble in to disorder. Without anyone in the lead nothing will get done on time or correctly. This is why my dream job is to be the leader of an underwater welding team. Leadership can be defined as the ability to guide or direct the actions of others, so as to achieve a common goal. The lesser known term, followership is the exact opposite of leadership. Without leadership, followership would not exist. They coincide with one another and cannot be separated, for without followers, leaders would not be. In Civil Air Patrol, one is expected to be both a leader and a follower; especially as a cadet, one must report to their commanding officer while being simultaneously responsible for their own cadets.…
