Arab Culture The term “Arab” is a cultural and grammatical word which refers to those who speak Arabic as their native language. Arabs are known to be united by culture and history. The Arab world spans across two continents, the Middle East and North Africa, and made up of 22 countries. One of those countries, located in the Middle East, is the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which consists of the seven small emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al-Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al-Qaiwain, and Fujairah. The name Emirati is given to the people of the UAE; these include those who hold United Arab Emirates nationality. The Emirati’s culture is based on the nomadic desert lifestyle. Thousands of years ago, the people had little vegetation and a few animals in their region, surviving on camel’s milk and dates, a sweet fruit. Today, urbanization and immigration dramatically changed the Emirati’s diet with large groups arriving with their own food, making it a cosmopolitan region. The United Arab Emirates are now unique with their food and their usage of spices, dining etiquette, and celebrations. The article Emirati Culture states that Emirati cuisine is a blend of many Middle Eastern and Asian cuisines. The Emiratis uses a lot of meat, cereals, and diary in their traditional food. Chicken and small fowl are used as traditional meat, such as Houbana bustards, and goats. Emiratis praise camels for their milk and transporting ability, eating camel meat is reserved for special occasions.…
