Richard J. Chung and Allen Frances report in the article ‘Should All Teens Be Screened for Depression?” “As a result, many depressed teens struggle with suffering that can lead to poorer physical health, school failure, social difficulties and, for some, suicide” (R. 5). Without treatment teens have both physical, emotional and social problems. They have difficulty socializing with their friends and have problems in school and not do their work. It may lead to dropping out of school. For some people their depression get really bad and can lead to suicide. This not only affects them but their family. The teen’s depression goes to their loved ones and they may wonder if the suicide was their fault. Chung and Frances believe that depression in teens can have a significant impact on teens; teens that suffer from depression are in big trouble since, “(600,000… are homeless or in jail for lack of adequate community services)” (R. 5).
