Melinda Luong: My Mother, My Hero

My mom has been always there for me for all of my best and worst moments. She has fought and sacrificed so much for me, and I know for a fact that she is the one person I can rely on for anything. Melinda Luong is a name I will always smile to and she is the one who is determined to make my life successful and prosperous. My mother deserves a gold medal because she is a hardworking mother of three who will always put her family’s needs in front of hers. She has fought through the communists of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia for many years. Her story and childhood inspire me to become a better person each day.
She was born on January 5th, 1969. My mom had no cell phone, television, or any technology. She was always running away with her family

My mom studied and majored in business that would eventually led into an accountant career. She still supported her family’s donut store. One day, she was introduced to my dad. They began talking and laughing. They visited each other every week. After years of being together, they got married when my mom was the age of 24. Once she got married, she devoted her life to make sure her children were able to grow up with an experience that she never had: a happy childhood. She is determined to make the best possible choices for her children’s future. She’s a persevering mother that is the reason why we strive to be the best. It is for her sacrifices that makes her worthy of a gold medal. Every day, my mom has took the time to create memories that will last forever. Ever since she has fought the communists to fighting through me, she is an unbelievable person. No matter how many times I thank her, she deserves more appreciation each day. This gold medal is just one of the many things I honor her with. Her history with the Khmer Rouge communist has taught me how lucky I am I have her. Her love gave us a happy childhood.
