Do you ever remember a time where you have to be brave? Think about how you had to be in high school, like Melba in Warriors Don´t Cry by Melba Patillo Beals, she had to deal with the negative comments and she missed out on being a regular teen. In Warriors Don´t cry the author show how elba shows bravery through characterization in determination, boldness, and ambious. Melba shows determination by finishing what she. Like for example,when she was writing her Newyears resolution down she said ¨I simply wanted to make it through the year alive and unijured. I resigned myself to devoting all my energy to that goal(Beals,136)¨. This shows Melbas drive to complete this goal and that she is ready for anything.Also her completing this goal is going to show people …show more content…
Also she is not to be played with and she made an example of the boy that it is not a game. Melba´s first day of school was crazy as she was walking well more like running to her first class till ¨Suddenly I felt it the sting of a hand slapping the side of my cheek, and the warm slimy saliva on my face,drawing to the collar of my blouse (Beals,74)¨. This showś boldness because she did not fight back and she stood in shock and had to keep moving and the people were looking at her waiting for her to do something like a predator watching its prey. She was shocked that people would go this far to prove the point that the people at the school did not like her ,but the message was loud and clear.Having boldness shows you are not afraid to stick out and be different from everyone
