McMurphy in his occupation as the messiah of masculinity finds ways to invoke virility(9) as he succumbs to the idea of hosting a party for his fellow disciples to return their once lost sexuality and manliness(9). This also being an allusion to The Last Supper, which was the last meal Jesus had before his eventual(10) death and ultimate(10) resurrection. He begins this by sneaking in prostitutes(11), Candy and Sandy who directly correlate to the courtesan(11) and friend of Jesus, Mary Magdalene. They do so by bribing the night duty worker Mr. Turkle to ensure the girls wouldn’t be found. Later on, as the day goes on, Candy and Billy enter the Seclusion Room to where Billy evidently regains his sex drive and loses his virginity. Overzealous(12) with pride, he does not waste a moment(12) in telling Nurse Ratched of his deeds. Being in complete shock and disappointment, the only next reasonable step she professes is to keelhaul(13) him by telling his actions to his mother as punishment(13). In complete dismay, the only justification Billy gives is as he exclaims “McMurphy did it!”(Kesey 264). The idea of free will is yet again prophesied, however, the encouragement of drugs, alcohol, and women, seemingly argues whether or not Billy was in control of himself as he regained his deprived masculinity. Not only is it shown to be that a savior is found to be in one religion but in many others. For instance, Buddha, or the enlightened one. He also was seen as a savior for being the embodiment of enlightenment and blessing his teachings all around. His death is quite similar to the other similars for when Buddha out of compassion eats a meal knowing that it would kill him. Imposing gambling his life as did Jesus and McMurphy had done. From these teaching of these saviors there is the will that all of us are capable of achieving the nirvana we all strive for and becoming our own
