In the article Student Self-Assessment: The Key to Stronger Student Motivation and Higher Achievement by James H. McMillan and Jessica Hearn, they indicated a cycle which shows the cycle that a student follows when doing a student self-assessment. For a student to have a successful self assessment, the student must first have the skills of self monitoring. This student must be well focused on what the criteria of the assignment consists of (Page 2, paragraph 3 ). To follow self motoring this student must be able to show self judgment. They must recognize their progress towards the performance task. When the student recognizes their progress, this can lead them to understand what they know and what they still need to learn (Page 2, paragraph
