Part One- Goal Development
As been a behavioural therapist my goals will help me to develop my teaching and learning skills through applying my applied behavioural analysis (ABA) knowledge and gaining a practical experience while performing hands-on activities with the autism children. The four goals that I would like to achieve in my field placement are two generic skills – effective communication skills and team work skills and two behavioural skills- reinforcement and writing task analysis.
1. Generic Skills-

I personally believe that it is essential part in any of the profession. My second goal is to work as an effective team member with the other staff. I want to develop my teamwork skills so that I can learn how to participate with other in the group meetings and observe how the group members demonstrate support for one another as they accomplish their goals. I want to learn how to take important notes that been discussed in the group meetings when each group member willing share their experiences to other about the child progress and development. I want to know how the changes are made for particular child in running the program smoothly. And in order to achieve this goal I can start attending group meetings with my supervisor and listening to the group members when they share their experiences about dealing the difficult behaviour of the child throughout the day and discussing the program outcomes for each child in the group meetings. I can learn how each group member plan and manage a task through time management and organizing the program. I can develop understanding how they use various techniques to deal with behaviour difficulties that occur in the child throughout the program. It also provide me an opportunity to develop understanding about how they listen to other and elicit their ideas. I want to learn how to write a task analysis for the autism children and that is my fourth goal which I like to achieve during my placement. This goal can be acquire by observing the teacher how she interact with the kid and engage a child to play with the toys. I can gather more information from the behavioural therapist about what are the reinforcement she used to motivate the child in performing specific task and also observe a child during play and group activities. I can try to make simple step for the child by breaking down each task or skill into its detailed components. Once I wrote my step for task analysis I will proof read by my supervisor before implementing to the child. I will work upon a given feedback and try to write various task analysis for different activities that can help me to learn how to develop my skills through breaking the complex skills into simple step for the child to perform specific task. Moreover, I will follow feedback given by my supervisor that can help me to learn how to write a task analysis for specific activity .Lastly, I will measure this goal by continue practicing writing a task analysis for different children and learn from experience
