Conley Readiness Index Essay

Recently I had taken a test called the Conley Readiness Index. I remember the first question it asked me was how I schedule my day. I thought about that for a long, and I mean a long time. All because my days differentiate. I usually don’t work on a school day. So I kind of had been confused. So I just put it together. Surprisingly I scored pretty high on all aspects of the quiz. I didn’t score anything lower than a four. Learning skills was the very first section I looked at. I scored a 4.5 on learning strategies and a 4.8 on self-monitoring. I completely agree with these scores. It is not that hard for me to teach myself something. I had learned to that my sophomore year in high school. I hadn’t learned a thing in world history class. It was almost time for the end of course exam so I did what I had to do. I took that book and basically taught myself world history in less than a month. I ended up getting a low B on that exam. Sure it would’ve been better if I had a proper instructor but I did what I had to do. Although I am an extrovert, I am self-monitoring. My parents raised me that way. They always told me “You can’t depend on people all the time, you have to make things happen yourself.” …show more content…
I scored a 4 on academic awareness. I scored a 4.2 on career and college culture. I scored a 5 on financial aid; which wasn’t a surprise to me. The section I thought I should’ve scored much lower would’ve been college and career culture. I know absolutely nothing about my college. I have no idea what’s going on around me. And yes It is true I need to be more involved with this institution. Another section I scored low on was communication in key cognitive strategies. That’s is utterly true. I will communicate with every other person before the teacher. I know it’s strange but it’s the one of the risks I have to learn to

Some parts of my schedule are flexible, such as class times and work days. Fitting homework and studying in when I’m not at work and building a routine that you can stick to, but are able to adjust if other important things come up. As a working student, I have to be ready to adapt to new assignments, unexpected errands, and sudden work crises that need to be addressed immediately, so i make sure there is enough study time in my work schedule so that if something comes up, I can shift it into another slot during the week. I always communicate my schedule to my employers, friends, clients and family and make sure the people around me know where i'll be and when. What I hope to accomplish in the next five years is based off the knowledge I have up to this point, and has a good chance of changing due to future knowledge and opportunities, but the general outline of what I am hoping to accomplish will relatively stay the same. With that being said, what I am hoping to accomplish in the next five years, all takes place in college and 2 years outside of it. While in college, I am already pretty heavily involved outside of the class room, but I am always looking for opportunities to get more involved. With the things I am involved in, I am looking to take high up positions by the time I finish college. I am also focused on the most important part of college, which is the actual classroom.…

My grades this past year were and are not indicative of who I am as a student, or as a person in general. My junior year of high school, I decided to do PSEO, thinking it was an easy way to get credits for both high school and college. I did not realize the struggle I was going to have just trying to be accountable for myself during my senior year. My daily schedule consisted of work, soccer, managing the high school boy’s hockey team, volunteer work, spending time with my high school friends and taking college courses. I took the most challenging classes through Anoka-Ramsey Community College, thinking that like high school these would be the best for me.…

Unlike many of my peers, my life story is slightly different. Many of my peers share the story of living in a single parent home, being homeless, violence, and poverty. However, in my case, living in a two parent household is strange to hear about to my peers. For me, living in a two parent household means more work because of my desire to receive a full scholarship. Upon my research, I noticed that many of my older peers would receive better college financial opportunities because of their life experiences.…

Interpersonal communication is in our everyday lives, conversation with our friends, family, and colleagues are all examples. By definition interpersonal communication is dyadic, contains two or more people, and influences either the sender and/or receiver’s emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships (Cohen 2016). Despite the fact that everyone communicates interpersonally, many people do not do it very well. Brian H. Spitzberg and William R. Cupach are two theorists who have an assessment that tests your interpersonal communication competence.
