4.1.1. The marriage of Adam and Eve—one husband and one wife
According to the Bible, God created a man, named Adam after he made all creatures in the sixth day. God made every animal in couples, and then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”(Holy Bible, 2008, 3). So God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, took one of his ribs that he made into a woman, Eve, as Adam’s wife. The first marriage of human being is “a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they become one flesh.”(Holy Bible, 2008, 4).They were one flesh before. 4. 3.1. of one’s own free will
The freedom of marriage means it is after the consent of the two sides of the marriage. People have right to choose his mate or whether he wants to be in an unmarried state. Adam wrote the first love letter,“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.”(Holy Bible, 2008, 4) Therefore ,we can know that the marriage of the human is the joy of both sides.
4.3.2. Love
Love is the theme of the Bible, love God, and love others. If there is no love in marriage, how can we spend a lifetime with a stranger? In the New Testament“Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”(Holy Bible, 2008,349)The definition of love on the Bible is, “Love is patient, and love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.”(Holy Bible, 2008,299)
