The athlete I choose to do is Mark Teixeira. Mark Teixeira is a 34 year old First Baseman and Designated Hitter for the New York Yankees of Major League baseball. Mark Teixeira was drafted 5th overall in 2001 by the Texas Rangers, the team in which he would eventually make his major league debut for in 2003. In 2007 he was traded to the Atlanta Braves of the National League and then was traded to the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim the next year. Teixeira would settle down in 2008 when he signed in the off-season with the New York Yankees. He is a 2 time All – Star, a 5 time Gold Glove Award winner, and a 3 time Silver Slugger Award winner. In 2009 Teixeira was the AL Home Run Leader and RBI Leader and was a member of the World Series New York Yankees (“Mark Teixeira Bio”).
Mark Teixeira, currently runs the Mark Teixeira Charitable Fund with his wife Leigh. The Mark Teixeira Charitable Fund was set up in memory of his friend who was killed in a car accident which gives scholarships at three high schools in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area in Texas. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and reading. He is an avid film and theater fan and has appeared on television shows as well as a Broadway Play.

Currently one part of Mark Teixeira’s brand is a company called Juice Press in which he is an investor in (Gould Keil). Furthermore, he also is an investor in a company called Wheels Up. Wheels Up is a strategy and innovation firm that plans to connect athletes with performers (Roberts). Lastly, since 2008 Mark Teixeira has been the face of a redevelopment group in Atlanta. The group aims at helping struggling communities rebuild through youth baseball. With only having a small brand Mark Teixeira has had the opportunity to utilize his playing career and become a largely branded
