The performance of employees is a crucial factor as far as meeting the set organizational goals and objectives is concerned. Apparently, the quality of the work done as well as employees` efficiency contributes a lot in the production of quality products or services. High quality services does not only satisfy customer`s needs but also enables an organization to gain acquire a good reputation in the market situation. For this reason, managers should be determined to enhance adopt and implement measures that should enhance the effectiveness of employees. There are a myriad of ways in which managers can enhance the effectiveness of team members. Fortunately, there are myriad ways in which the manager can facilitate this cohesiveness, including utilizing the first few minutes of team meetings to concentrate on one team member, who is supposed to introduce himself or herself to the other team members, as well as a brief talk concerning his passion or hobby (s) when out of work, involving team members to games that entails ‘getting to know you’, or even organizing regular team lunches away from …show more content…
Managers can achieve this by exercising a participative style of management rather than authoritarian style. This articulates with the McGregor`s theory X and Y model, which stipulates that there are two main ways of managing and motivating team members (Educational Business Articles, 2015). According to his ideas, managers who exercise theory X (the authoritarian style of management) tends to achieve poor results due to a number of factors. For example, these managers believe that team members generally dislike work and would avoid it as much as possible and, therefore, they ought to be forced to work (by threatening them with punishments) towards the goals and objectives of an organization. In addition, these managers also believe that team members prefer to be directed and supervised in order to implement their delegated duties. Apparently, exercising the ideas of this theory creates job dissatisfaction among the team members, and can opt to quit, leading to high rates of turnover and poor performance of teams. In the contemporary world, this is the theory that was being exercised by Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Computers (Gayomali, 2015).
