Therefore, Loganlea SHS is a second and third chance school for students to enroll. In other words, it is impossible for the School to pick the best students. The majority of student comes from low SES families. Also, students who are unable to enroll at private schools (e.g., Groves Christian College) and relatively successful state schools (e.g., Shailer Park SHS) or transferred from other schools due to poverty, low level of academic capability or disruptive behaviors might attend Loganlea SHS eventually. For students who have ambitions to select tertiary pathway by achieving high OP results, they may face many challenges like lack of a wide range of highly regulated OP subjects offered and unsupportive academic climate. It seems that deregulated curriculum may demotivate these students. Their academic achievement will be negatively affected by the school curriculum and their peers. Also, it is hard to form an academic team and promote peer academic support among tertiary-oriented senior students to achieve better OP results. Less OP-eligible students will have a negative impact on attracting potential OP seeker.
Since the majority of students at Loganlea SHS tend to select an employment-oriented pathway, thereby, they tend to place less value on academic skills acquisition. Their perception of education could be negatively influenced by their low SES family and the disadvantaged community.
