Me and 33 other men dared the challenge that is the unknown west. Our leaders Lewis and Clark were gave the mission to find the source of the Missouri River and find a East West river by the one and only Thomas Jefferson. It was the year 1804 and all I knew was it wasn't going to be easy.
Their was so many new undiscovered plant and animals it was hard to believe. Some of the plants we discovered were so beautiful like the blue flax which was a beautiful blue. We found some really weird and gorgeous animals like the Pronghorn, The Prairie Dog and the big brown Grizzly Bear. Their was almost 50 different tribes we encountered and most were nice and friendly but some did not like us white folk. Most of the tribes offered us shelter and traded goods with us. The natives were really interested with York because of his color which was strange to us. There was some tribes like the black feet who didn't like us white men and shot at us but no one was injured except some Blackfeet.
As I stated earlier or captains were Lewis and Clark who are great men. Clark is an excellent Mapper and is a great people person. Clark served in the Indian wars of 1795 and was a great captain then also. Lewis was the adventurous type and loved the outdoors. Lewis recorded many new species of animals and plants. Lewis had some close calls and about lost his life many times in the journey.
We were accompanied by a interpreter by the name of Sacagawea who is from the Shoshone tribe. She was a great interpreter and a great member of our party, there was a couple times she saved our butts in the expedition and saved our stuff our found us food. If it wasn't for Sacagawea we probably wouldn't have made it over the Rockies. We are still very grateful for everything she
