Transition: Financial issues arrive from a plethora of avenues and abortion plants itself firmly in these problems.
Abortions can increase finances concerning medical bills.
The side effects of abortion will cause financial damage and ripples in bank accounts. An example of a financial burden is an increase in drug use with those that have previously had an abortion. According to David Reardon of the Elliot Institute, in 2013, 49 percent of women after an abortion reported an increased amount of drug use. These drugs could range from harmless to severe, of course, but drugs are seldom inexpensive unless you hold exceptional insurance. Legalizing abortion nationally is extremely important because a national mandate ensures regulated, clean clinics that do not compromise a woman with an unwanted pregnancies health. Legalizing abortion nationally allows for a monitored system to be set up that keeps women safe and from having to seek-out back alley measures. “Today, abortion is one of the most commonly performed clinical procedures in the United States, and the death rate from abortion is extremely low: 0.6 per 100,000 procedures, according to the World Health Organization.” (Obos, 2014) (ourbodiesourselves.org)

In one testimony I read in an essay titled “My Back-Alley Abortion” a woman describes how she had to covertly discuss her unwanted pregnancy in an effort to find someone willing to perform the abortion. When she finally found someone and met the person carrying out the procedure she was blindfolded and driven around for thirty minutes to insure that they were not being followed en route to their destination and to ensure that she was unaware of their exact location. After the procedure she was forced to call her physician due to complications and put in the uncomfortable situation of lying and making up a grandiose story to cover here illegal acts. This was not the only terrifying story I read in my research and I’m sure was not the worst story either.
