Leadership development is the method of designing an atmosphere which stresses the importance of developing skills and knowledge that cultivates an establishment both economically and emotionally. Developing and training leaders for the future is very crucial to the success of an organization. For a business to achieve success, executing a leadership development plan is fundamental to an organization. Research has discovered that many leadership programs develop individual leaders, and not leadership capability. This allows the leader to make a positive influence on pursuing and retaining the finest talent for the organization. To establish and develop a vigorous staff, a leadership program must be developed from within, which will incorporate the moral principles and standards of the organization.
Background of the Organization Methodist Healthcare started with a passion for enhancing healthcare for the community. Approximately, in the year of 1982 Methodist Healthcare was formed and chartered as Methodist Health Systems, the parent establishment of multiple hospitals and other entities. The name changed to Methodist Healthcare in 1998. Today, Methodist is known as one of the major healthcare providers, which operates approximately 1600 beds, serving populations of diverse socioeconomic characteristics across a large area of West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and East Arkansas (Healthcare, 2014). The hospital enhanced qualities change the lives of patients, workers and family members. The hospital endeavor is to provide the most inclusive, wide-ranging and patient-focused care. An organization should implement a purpose of forming the culture and strengthening the vision of their company. The goal of this program is to execute values and to guide behaviors through service, quality, integrity, teamwork, and innovation. Through these actions, the organization seeks to serve the patients with compassion, identify the best practices to provide excellent quality of care, be accountable for the results of patient care, work as a team to obtain outstanding performance and find new processes to achieve significant results to improve care.
