This case describes the different leadership among employees in the small bistro in the shopping mall. After Emile Fortin decided to quit his accounting job, he opened a small bistro with his spouse Gillian. Alan, John, and Robert involved in their parents’ business. Robert’s girlfriend Sylvia also involved in this small business after they started dating. At first, the restaurant runs very successful and smoothly, especially in the Saturday nights. However, some problems appear on Saturday nights and Emile wants to solve the problems by using “Sylvia’s stories as the basis of his actions” (Pitre & Caron, 1982). “Leadership is the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision or set of goals” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p332). This assignment is going to analyze Emile, Gillian, Robert, or Sylvia’s leadership by using different theories. Also, I will discuss the expectations of the other people in the case to react to the character if that character maintains his or her current course of actions. Finally, I will give some recommendations about the leadership at that restaurant and provide one of the best theories to understand the phenomenon of leadership in organizations. One of the best leadership theories that can explain Emile’s character is Traits Theories. The “Trait Theories of leadership focus on personal qualities and characteristics” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p333). The Big Five personalities have a strong relationship with leadership. These…
