Harper Lee is the famous American author who wrote To Kill a Mockingbird and Go Set a Watchman. She wrote about mystery and racism all at the same time, but she somehow made it work. Lee was born on April 28, 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama. Her mother was Frances Cunningham Finch and her father was Amasa Coleman Lee. When she was growing up in Alabama she was good friends with Truman Capote. Lee attended Monroe County High School. When she was there she stood out because she didn’t care about clothes, or her hair. Lee was a member of the literary honor society and the glee club. She was also became known as a loner and she was a very unique individual for her time. In her high school English class was when she began to love literature. After she graduated high school she attended the University of Alabama.In 1950 Lee moved to New York to become a writer and worked at Eastern Airlines and British Overseas Airways Corporation as a ticket agent. (Biography.com) Lee befriended Broadway composer Michael Martin Brown. He offered to support her for a year, giving her the chance to be a full time writer. While she was writing she was stuck on writer 's block several times. She then started working with editor Tay Hoff and released her first book “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Lee later joined with Truman Capote on his article he was writing for “The New Yorker”.The article was about the impact of the murder of four members of the Clutter family on their small Kansas farming community.…
