This computerized system performs basic activities and records the daily routine transactions of a company necessary to conduct the business. . TPS information systems collect data from user inputs and then generate outputs based on the data collected. An example would be payroll TPS for processing that captures employee data of payment transactions, such as a timecard.
Business intelligence systems is a data and software tool that can be complex as they recognize, extract and examine data for various operational needs, particularly for managers and users to improve decision-making. The systems with the business intelligence include Management information systems (MIS), Decision support systems (DSS) and Executive support systems (ESS)
Management information systems (MIS) serves as middle management and creates the link between enormous data processing, reporting power, and decision-making based on data from TPS. This information is used to monitor and control the business and predict future performance. Decision support systems (DSS) is also a part of middle management and the support system that focuses on problems that are unique and rapidly changing, and support decision making by working and evaluating data that can generate statistical projections and data models. This system gives support rather that replacing a manager’s judgment while improving the quality of a manager’s decision. A DSS helps solve problems while using external data.
