Junk Food is Bad For People
In the current generation, industries and factories have grown in number due to higher demands for sweets and high calorie foods. Junk food is usually classified as something high in calories, but low in protein and holds little nutritional value. According to Elaine Magee, MPH and RD for WebMD, "Most "junk food" falls into the categories of either "snack food" or "fast food," (Junk-Food). Yet a good majority of the population asks for these substances, even when they know the negative effect they have can on one 's body. These foods can cause diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. This generation, has a high number of people who are overweight or obese. Fast food and junk food have a negative impact on one 's body, and should be avoided at all cost.
Consumption of fast food causes health problems. Throughout the nation, obesity is becoming a major health problem. According to the World Health Organization, also known as WHO, ". . . 1.6 billion adults over the age of 15 or older were overweight, at least 400 million adults were obese and at least 20 million children under the age of 5 years were overweight" (What). Out of those 1.6 billion people, 400 million people were obese, meaning that out of every seven adults, one is obese. A ratio of 1:7 may not seem like a big deal, because some could say that they could go to the gym to work it off or stop eating at places like McDonald 's or Burger King.
