The beauty of Jihad is hidden behind the supposed meaning which is “holy war” in actuality there is so much more to jihad, it is a way in which Muslims can struggle and strive for our creator Allah (swt). What makes me sad is the misinterpretation of the word; the media has made it look like a militaristic concept when in reality it is to struggle in the name of Allah (swt) and Islam. Hopefully reading this will help us better understand the word Jihad.

Otherwise, it remains obligatory upon all Muslims until the goal of Jihad is achieved. Another form of Jihad is Dawah or spreading the word this type of jihad is getting the message of Islam out to the non-believers this is not an obligatory act since Islam does not preach forcing your religion on others. Jihad like mentioned before is more then just fighting it is an act in which you carry out in the name of Allah (god) and not a fight but in some cases there are positions in which you must defend one and there are rules that must be followed performing this type of Jihad the aggressive, physical Jihad many are familiar too but do not understand, hopefully through a proper introduction to it people can see that jihad is fair and just in cases of fighting.
Physical Jihad is only declared in the following situations. Government or person preventing the spread of the message of Islam, One who prevents people from choosing Islam, or anyone who persecutes for practicing or choosing Islam, these are the only cases in which Physical Jihad can be declared in no other instance is it allow to declare physical Jihad. If the people Muslim and non-Muslim live in the freedom in which they can choose there religion and practice it freely then there is no chance of physical Jihad, and even if so the rules of physical Jihad state that you can only attack the persecutors and not those people who live in the country.
