"Notorious serial killer and sex offender Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men between 1978 and 1991" (Jeffrey Dahmer Biography). Jeffrey Dahmer is one of the most well known serial killers in history; Americans were terrified of the man who ate other men. Described as an "American serial killer whose arrest in 1991 provoked controversy" His actions put murder and violent crimes into the spotlight of mainstream culture (Jeffrey Dahmer). He was born in Milwaukee on May 21, 1960. Jeff lived what would be considered a "normal" childhood, yet that normal child turned into a disturbingly abnormal man.

Additionally, Dahmer lined up the skulls of people he killed and masturbated in front of them. Dahmer was a necrophiliac, he enjoyed having sexual relations with the dead bodies. Afterwards, he cut up the bodies and disposed of them. In most cases he kept the skulls and placed their genitals in jars. Dahmer 's grandmother grew sick of his late nights in 1988 and kicked him out of her house; Dahmer took two more lives before he officially moved out (1: SV;SV.). Shortly after he moved out, Dahmer was caught with a 13 year old boy and charged with sexual exploitation and second degree sexual assault, to which he pleaded guilty. Dahmer moved back in with his grandma after the incident. As a result of being caught with the young boy, Dahmer served one year in prison and five years of probation, although was granted permission to work during the day and go to prison at night. Dahmer was released from prison two months early, and got his own apartment in May of 1990. (Jeffrey Dahmer Biography). Not needing to sneak around at his grandmother 's house, Dahmer started killing more frequently. Additionally, he started experimenting in his apartment. A man whom he had in his apartment, Tracy Edwards, had escaped and wandered the streets naked with a handcuff on one of his wrists. The police found Edwards and believed the story he told them. They followed Edwards back to Dahmer 's apartment, where they found a drunk Dahmer. The police asked Jeff if he had the key to the handcuff, so he went and got it from the table. Edward also told police about a knife that Dahmer had used; the police checked his room for the knife and found photos of dead men and a picture of a head in the fridge; Dahmer resisted but was eventually arrested (1C: SV; SV; SV.). The police searched the apartment, and they found three heads in the freezer, more pictures, and jars filled with his victims genitals (Jeffrey Dahmer Biography). Dahmer was interviewed by many investigators, so as to see what was going through his mind when he was killing. Dahmer told police, "I carried it too far, that’s for sure" (I Carried It Too Far...).
