Breaking the cycle America has always been filled with great people, places, and ideas. Social norms are things that everyone has experienced. Music is something that has these norms. If you are a musician your life should look a little like this: join a ban, play music, get rich and famous, and then live out the rest of your days peacefully. Jason Everman is one example of someone who broke away from this cycle. Jason Everman’s story is very inspiring for those looking to escape social norms.
Jason was a young musician who found himself in multiple bands. First he joined Nirvana in 1989. During that year he paid for the band's record producing fees, did a tour with the band, and was then let go for being to moody. Shortly after Jason joined Soundgarden but was let go for the same reason. Jason is quoted as saying “I was in the cool bands,” while living out his dream of being a rock star. In today's world meeting rebels that lead protests and make their voices heard are common occurrences. Like most rebels Jason was “a little nervous, but i knew”. He understood the possible consequences he knew he was doing with the right thing to do. Jason Everman broke the normal life cycle of a musician but he will not be remembered because of the small amount of people that are faced with the choices he was. However His story will show people that you can do whatever you want to do in life.
Jason Everman is a great example of a rebel. He started as a band member, then became a war hero. Jason has recently finished college with a degree in philosophy. That is most definitely not a normal life, social norms would say tht he should have do not nothing with his life after getting abandoned by Nirvana and Soundgarden.
