The aforementioned authors proposed that the reading specialists play instructional and leadership roles within their schools. The leadership roles will be the ones which provide the support to organize PLCs in which the reading specialists would displayed their distributed (shared) leadership knowledge. Professional Learning Communities. Defining PLCs is a difficult task. Its definition has been evolving over the years. There are some voices that claim for a clear definition of PLCs; among these voices, Hipp and Huffman (2010) define PLCs as "groups of professional educators working collectively and purposefully to create and sustain a culture of learning for all students and adults" (p. 12).
