I will provide five specific health care policies that I feel are essential to a good medical care service in a prison.
1.Inmates should have access to care. Inmates have filed law suits because of no access to care.Healthcare is very expensive, but I feel dispite it beeing expensive inmate need access to medicalcare.This access to healthcare should last from the point of arrest to discharge from jail or prison.Poliicies and procedures wereput in place to ptovide a …show more content…

4.Privacy is a big policy in any healthcare facility not just prison. A person's health should be protected by all that comes in contact with their private information especially in prisons. Sometimes a person might wonder why a prisoner personal information should be kept confidential it is their right to keep their information confidential.People have won big Lawsuits for not protecting people's privacy rights in the healthcare field. Workers in prison healthcare field only need to let people know on a need to know basis.Anyone that comes and ask a healthcare worker in prison should not be told.
5.Medication is another that is labeled high risk in a correctional environment . This is because Medicine has to be given at the right time, right dosage, and using the correct medications The wrong dosage could potentially kill a person. My husband family won a lawsuit because a nurse gave his grandmother the wrong dosage, and she died. The right dose could be a life or death
