Final Project Reflection Paper

Without any technological experience, I knew that this final project was going to be an exhausting one. There were many strenuous paths I took in order to create this video. However, I overcame them with the help of my brother and his technological expertise. In the process of creating my rough draft, I probably had the worst idea imaginable. I planned to finish this video through the use of an application that I downloaded from my iPhone. The application was a video maker, and this was perhaps the biggest failure that I’ve encountered during this project. The video maker application worked fine at first, but I soon realized that it was difficult to synchronize music and clips together. The main purpose of this project was for me to explain …show more content…
And then bring these images together to create a project that would represent discriminated Asian immigrants and other minorities and their transition in identity. Within 3 minutes I was expecting to have a tangible presentation that can introduce and conclude the idea of discrimination and its effect on identity. The usage of images or a video relating to the Spongebob scene on identity would help to elaborate on the definition of identity, and make the presentation more interesting. I was brainstorming quite well during this spontaneous moment. I had everything planned out in my head and I was ready to create either a Prezi, or Mashup. It was later this day when my brother came to my room and asked what I was working on. I simply told him about my failures that i struggled through with the first video, and he laughed at me. Throughout that whole day he showed me how to incorporate music and slides into a video and how to space the clips out. He also let me watch videos on YouTube of how to use Movie Maker, which is a pretty good application to create videos. It was easy and concise and it definitely got the job done. Through my brother I was able to see the road to success. I completely scrapped the idea of working on a Prezi/Mashup and went back into the video. I believe the biggest success of this final project was …show more content…
First I had to be considerate of the audience members. So i picked music and images that they could understand or feel a connection towards. The age group i was going for this video was between ages 16-30. Not only was i considerate of the age group, but I also wanted to know a way to keep them from being bored when reading the informative text that were in the slides. Therefore, I included an energetic EDM based theme of music. I used the song Levels, by Avicii to create a more lively vibe in the classroom. I know that people are probably sleepy because of finals week, so I thought this would be a great way to wake them up. I used a multimodal type of video because I believed the best way to guarantee a successful and entertaining video would be through music, images and alphabetical text. My biggest concern was to make my argument clear to the audience and i wasn 't sure if i could sum my essay up in a short 3 minute video. So I had to sit down and think about one of the most predominant topic in my essay that the class can understand. So after thinking for a while, I picked the topic about Eddie Huang. I wanted to use the information about Eddie Haung to delineate my argument that stereotyping and racial discrimination will be the catalyst to change the personality of an individual in a given society/environment. I started off by defining identity

Psychology 201 has been a very intriguing course for me so far. I really enjoyed learning about how the brain works and how big of a role it plays in our lives. Some specific areas of psychology I enjoyed studying were Operant Conditioning, the theories of motivation, and Jean-Dominique Bauby. Operant Conditioning was a familiar concept, even though I was not familiar with the specific terminology. I think reinforcement and punishment are very interesting topics that apply to everyone's lives.…

During the indigenous/Native American week, there were many relations and new things that I learned throughout the week. From chapter nine in the Wayne Au book I learned that everyone has a different way of growing up and we all need to embrace where we came from. What I learned the most about that week we all have to love ourselves and who we are. If it was not for our generation before us we would not where we are today and that already is such a huge success because other countries do not the life we are living today. Native Americans were know as “ different” because they their lifestyle was different growing up such as: hunting, the dancing culture and the tongues.…
