John Hunter showed incredible enthusiasm for the human anatomy. He wanted to help people, he wanted to save lives and learn more about the bodies systems. He did the best he could do with the little they knew even then. Without the knowledge of anesthetics or sterile tools to work with many mistakes were made. Infection was a huge problem and the pain was unbearable for the patients, but because of these mistakes we’ve discovered way to numb and dull the pain and we’ve learned to be very clean while conducting any medical procedure. In these days it was also very common for other surgeons or students inspiring to become doctors to observer the surgery up close and person. The surgeries would be performed in homes or even theaters so that there was room for the procedure to be done while others watched closely. I want to study the human body farther, I aspire to saves lives and to discover new ways to help sick or diseased people. As an anatomy student, I aim to gain knowledge from the mistakes of other renowned doctors of modern and historical science. Like John Hunter I want nothing more than to improve the health of my patients and to obtain new and improved ways to easily cure and provide a more comfortable healing process. Because of this class, I’ve had to read an amazing book which has taken my interest in the human anatomy has intensified beyond simply helping with a cold. I signed up to take this class for the reasons of being a pediatric nurse, but I now inspire to do more.
