Scientists have been proving that improper diet can affect our health in all stages of life from fetal development through old age. At the one of the society for neuroscience meeting, they demonstrate how Western diet filled in saturated fat and sugar eaten by mother may impact development of a baby’s while still in the womb. The same unhealthy diet may result in depression in adolescents and provide dementia and Parkinson’s disease in adults. “Those who have no time for healthy eating will sooner or later have to find time for illness”. Interpreted Edward Stanley’s words, the consumed food can be the greatest enemy of people if this food won’t be healthy. Everyone should to realize that we are what we eat. The proper diet can be a medicine for body and mind and in result of satisfying social life. Consumed food has an effect on the appearance and weight. Everything what we eat and drink is processed to supply the body in all necessary substances and minerals. The result of the diet can be visible on the skin, nails and hair. For example, the Mediterranean diet knows as one of the healthiest and base on fresh fruits and vegetables, olive oil, meat, sea food and anointed daily with red wine, can contribute to changes our outside look. On the cosmetic front, omega-3 fatty acids in fish help to keep skin strong, elastic and olive oil, tomatoes, and red wine also have antioxidants that help block the chemical reactions that lead to sun damage. Moreover, this healthy eating patterns protect us principally from heart disease. In recent years’ researchers improve that nutritional imbalances such as lower level of essential fats Omega 3, serotonin and vitamins B and D can make us sad and be disposed to depression. Dietary changes may bring effect in our brain structure and put us in a better mood. Serotonin, known as happiness hormone, is made naturally in the brain from tryptophan. As more this amino acid enters the brain, more serotonin is synthesized and then this affect our mood. We can increase tryptophan levels by eating healthy carbohydrates like whole grains, fruits, vegetables and legumes. Conferring to scientists from Arizona State University, a very low carbohydrate diet consumed by overweight adults, increase tiredness and reduce the desire to exercise. Additional, another important substance is Omega-3 fats called essential fats because unlike some other substances, they can’t be produced within the human body, and consequently it is significant to include them in our diet. Good dietary source can be found in fatty fish, flaxseed and walnuts. Besides of essential fats our diet should contains D and B vitamins.
